Your health data is your business
Dusk never collects your health data. Your attacks, symptoms, medications, triggers, and notes stay on your device and in your own private iCloud — never on our servers. There are no accounts and nothing to sign into. The only information we collect is a small number of anonymous app-usage events, which help us improve the app and are never linked to you.
What this means for you
- On your device and in your private iCloud. Everything you log is stored on your device. If you use iCloud, it is also backed up and synced through your own private iCloud account, managed by Apple. We never receive it, and it is never stored on our servers.
- No account, ever. There is no sign-up and no login. You open the app and log — the app works fully offline.
- Anonymous usage only. We count a small number of anonymous app events — for example, that the app was opened or a report was created — to help us improve Dusk. These never include your symptoms, medications, notes, health data, or anything that identifies you, and you can turn them off in the app’s Settings.
- No tracking, no ads. Dusk does not track you across other apps or websites, shows no ads, and never sells your data. Your health data is never used for advertising or marketing of any kind.
- Yours to take with you. Export your history and doctor reports anytime.
What we collect — and what we never collect
What we collect: Anonymous usage data only (product interaction) — a small set of counters such as an app open or a feature being used. This is gathered through a privacy-focused analytics service (TelemetryDeck), is not linked to your identity, is not used to track you, and can be switched off in Settings. In App Store terms, this is Usage Data that is Not Linked to You.
What we never collect:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number)
- Your health data (attacks, pain levels, symptoms, medications, triggers, notes)
- Anything read from or written to Apple Health
- Your precise location (see “Weather & location” below)
- Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data
Apple Health
Connecting Dusk to Apple Health is optional. With your permission, Dusk can save your migraine attacks to Health as headache records, and read your sleep and menstrual-cycle data to show correlations with your attacks. This data is processed on your device only. It is never uploaded to us or to any third party, never used for advertising or marketing, and never disclosed to anyone. You can review or revoke Health access at any time in the Health app under Sharing, and you can delete the records Dusk has written from within the Health app.
Weather & location
Dusk’s weather features use your approximate location (reduced accuracy — roughly city-level) to look up local barometric pressure through Apple Weather. Location is requested only when weather features are in use, is not stored as a history, and is never shared with anyone other than Apple’s weather service to answer the lookup. You can decline location access and the rest of the app works fully; weather features simply stay off.
iCloud sync
If you have iCloud enabled, Dusk backs up and syncs your data across your own devices using Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) in your private database. This data lives in your personal Apple account, governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. The developer has no access to it. If you prefer to keep data only on your device, you can turn iCloud sync off.
Your data, your control
Because your health data stays with you, you remain in complete control:
- Export your history and doctor reports anytime from the app
- Delete all local data by deleting the app; remove synced data by managing Dusk in your iCloud settings
- Remove anything Dusk wrote to Apple Health from within the Health app
- No one else has access to your migraine history
- Your data cannot be exposed by a breach of our servers, because we hold none of it
Children’s privacy
Dusk does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Third-party services
Dusk uses Apple’s iCloud for your private backup and sync, Apple Weather for barometric-pressure lookups, Apple Health (optionally, with your permission) for on-device correlations, and TelemetryDeck for anonymous usage analytics. It integrates with no advertising networks and no other third-party services. It does not use cookies or advertising identifiers.
Changes to this policy
Any changes to this privacy policy will be updated on this page and, where relevant, in the app. Our core commitment — never collecting your health data — will not change.
