Frequently asked questions
How do I log an attack?
Tap Start attack in the app — or from a widget, Siri (“Log a migraine in Dusk”), or your iPhone’s Action button — and Dusk starts tracking immediately. That's it; you can put the phone down. Add pain level, symptoms, and meds whenever you're able, and end the attack when it's over. Everything autosaves.
What’s free, and what is Dusk Pro?
Logging is free forever and never behind a paywall — attacks, symptoms, meds with the “can I take another?” counter, all reminders and notifications, your last 30 days of history and stats, 30-day doctor reports, the current pressure display, manual cycle logging, and private iCloud sync. Dusk Pro is the understanding layer: your full history and trigger patterns, 90-day / all-time / custom doctor reports, pressure-drop alerts, Apple Health integration (sleep and cycle correlations), Apple Watch logging, and extra widgets. Pro is $2.99/month, $24.99/year, or $59.99 once for lifetime.
I bought Pro but don’t see it. How do I restore?
Open the paywall and tap Restore Purchases. Your unlock is tied to your Apple ID, so it carries across your devices and reinstalls. Make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple ID you purchased with.
How do subscriptions and the lifetime option work?
The monthly and yearly plans are auto-renewing subscriptions billed to your Apple account; cancel anytime in Settings → your name → Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the period renews. The lifetime option is a single one-time payment — no subscription, nothing to cancel. Full details in the Terms of Use.
Is my health data private?
Yes. Your attacks, symptoms, meds, and notes stay on your device and in your own private iCloud — never on our servers. No account, no ads, no tracking, and nothing from Apple Health ever leaves your device. The only thing we collect is a handful of anonymous usage counts, which you can turn off in Settings. See the Privacy Policy.
How does the Apple Health connection work?
It’s optional and off until you connect it. With your permission, Dusk saves your attacks to Health as headache records and reads your sleep and cycle data to show correlations — all processed on your device. You can change or revoke access anytime in the Health app under Sharing, and delete anything Dusk wrote from the Health app.
Why does Dusk ask for my location?
Only for weather. Dusk uses your approximate (city-level) location to look up local barometric pressure through Apple Weather — pressure drops are a common migraine trigger. Location isn’t stored or shared, and if you decline, everything else works; weather features simply stay off.
How does iCloud sync work? Will I lose my data?
If iCloud is enabled, Dusk keeps your history in sync across your own devices using your private iCloud account — we never see it. Because your data is backed up to iCloud, it comes back when you reinstall or set up a new device. You can turn sync off to keep data only on the current device.
Can I bring my history from Migraine Buddy?
Yes. Export your data from Migraine Buddy, then use Dusk’s import to bring your attack history with you — free.
Does Dusk need an internet connection?
No. Logging, history, stats, and reports all work completely offline. An internet connection is only used for private iCloud sync (if enabled), weather lookups, and a few anonymous usage counts.
How do I share a report with my doctor?
Open Reports and create a summary of your attacks, triggers, and medications — then save, print, or share it. The last 30 days is free; Dusk Pro adds 90-day, all-time, and custom ranges.
